Biography
Alniviya is an Ald scout from Eastern Dyung, the daughter of Aldeviy and one of the trusted envoys of the Order of Dyungius. She grew up among the living forests of Vorto, where the ability to hear the wind, read tracks, and vanish between the trees is valued no less than skill with a blade. From childhood Alniviya stood close to the spiritual and political power of the Alds: her father was not only her parent, but also her mentor, priest, and keeper of the Order's memory.
By the start of the main story, Alniviya is already an independent scout and diplomat. She can act alone and undergoes training tied to the Zark crystal. It is to her that the dangerous mission on Earth is entrusted: to find Rafael Rodiev and his son Iriaz, to make certain that the heir of Rodia is alive, and to prepare their return to Vorto.
On Earth, Alniviya finds herself in a world that is at once foreign and dangerous to her. Moscow, Reed Industries, documents, money, coffee, and human rules become her new challenges. She quickly learns to blend in, yet keeps the habits of the Alds: a soundless step, a wary gaze, and the constant reading of her surroundings.
Her first important victory is finding Rafael and Iriaz in Moscow. But the mission quickly grows complicated: at Rafael's side is Diana Alinova, and behind the earthly technologies of Reed Industries hide traces of Namibius's plan. Together with Lloyd, Alniviya begins to investigate this threat and uncovers secret projects linked to opal mines and the MAR project.
Meeting Iriaz changes her path. At first he is, to her, the heir of Rodia, the magister, the goal of the mission. Gradually Alniviya begins to see in him a living person: bewildered, stubborn, clever, and able to press forward even when he does not understand who he is meant to become. She becomes his guide into Vorto, and he becomes her reason to doubt the cold logic of an order.
