Biography
Aldeviy is one of the oldest and most significant of the Alds. His name means «the first of the line», and that is no mere honorary title. In him converge ancestral authority, spiritual responsibility, and the memory of the times when the Alds still tried to keep the balance among the peoples of Vorto without a great war.
He grew up in a culture where the bond with the forest, with Dyungius, and with the living dyung trees was not a religious formality but the foundation of life. For the Alds, the forest is not territory but a living ally, a memory, and a source of law.
Aldeviy had two younger brothers — Aruas and Ariviy. It was their fate that became one of the great tragedies of his life.
Aldeviy sent his brothers north, to the Grovns who had begun to settle densely near the forests of Dyung, and after their failure he drew a wise and cautious conclusion: the Grovns should not be disturbed without dire need. He held that their choice, however unpleasant and destructive it seemed to the Alds, gave no right to impose faith and order by force. But Aruas and Ariviy did not accept Aldeviy's caution. They secretly gathered followers and went to the Grovns once more, seeking to force them by strength to believe in the spirit of Dyungius. This attempt failed, and it was then that Aruas resolved on a desperate step: with dark magic he tried to summon Dyungius. Instead, from the depths of the Grovn lake there rose a huge Black Bear — Namibius.
Thus Darkness came to Vorto, and his brothers became servants of Namibius, crossed over to the side of Darkness, and were turned into ards. After his brothers' fall, Aldeviy became one of the chief keepers of Dyung and a spiritual pillar of the resistance to Namibius. He understood that Darkness could not be defeated by arms alone. It was necessary to preserve memory, faith, discipline, and a structure that would outlast rulers, armies, and even individual states. So his path gradually led to the creation of the Order of Dyungius.
Aldeviy is also the father of Alniviya. Their bond is built on love, trust, and duty. To him Alniviya is not merely a daughter to be sheltered, but a grown scout able to carry out the Order's missions. He sends her to Earth, keeps contact with her through a charm and artifacts, charges her with watching over Rafael and Iriaz, and later coordinates the return of Rodia's heir. This makes their relationship difficult: Aldeviy loves his daughter, yet cannot allow himself to keep her safe when the future of two worlds demands risk.
After Iriaz returns to the Temple of the Order, Aldeviy receives him as magister, explains the origin of his power, and tells him of the blood of the Yonarian mages, of Rafael, Namibius, Aruas, and the fate of his mother. He does not hide the heavy truth, but presents it as part of a responsibility. For Iriaz, Aldeviy becomes the first great voice of Vorto: one who speaks not on behalf of a single person, but on behalf of the whole history that had awaited his return.
