Biography
Andrey Yuryevich Rodionov was born in Rybinsk, in the Yaroslavl Oblast. His father worked as an engineer, his mother was a chemistry teacher. A childhood in an industrial town, a strict family, and an athletic upbringing shaped in him early on discipline, endurance, and the habit of seeing things through. Rodionov was not a man of quick emotions: from his youth he was used to observing first, then drawing conclusions, and only then acting.
Andrey received his military education in Moscow at the FSB Academy. His studies there defined his professional style: he could read micro-gestures, pauses, and intonations, noticed superfluous details, and rarely asked a direct question if he could get the answer through observation.
In the FSB, Rodionov became known as an analyst-investigator able to untangle multi-step cases. He had no taste for mysticism, rumors, or loud theories. For him there were facts, chains of access, motives, technical capabilities, and people who lie worse than they think. His rationality became both a strength and a limit: as long as an event could be explained by earthly logic, Andrey held to it to the very end.
By the time of the events surrounding Reed Industries, Rodionov is 44 years old. He is an FSB colonel, a lean, tall man with short-cropped fair hair, a touch of gray at the temples, and a calm, studying gaze. In everyday work he wears a dark-blue suit without showy expense, while on assignments he prefers windproof jackets and comfortable boots.
Later Andrey Rodionov is transferred, on a contract basis, to Reed Industries and becomes the head of its security service, while keeping his ties to the state school and a security-service mindset. For Rafael Rodiev he becomes a man who can be trusted not only with protecting the company's assets, but with the safety of his family. Rodionov is responsible for vetting personnel, securing events, controlling the perimeter, escorting key figures, and handling threats that must never reach the public.
After the disappearance of Rafael and Iriaz, Rodionov is tasked with making sense of what happened. At first he sees the case as a complex corporate conflict, perhaps tied to Diana Alinova or a struggle for control over technology. But as the investigation goes on, he runs into facts that do not fit the familiar picture.
An important role in Rodionov's life is played by Dmitry Afersov, a young lieutenant for whom Andrey becomes a mentor. He teaches him not to rush to conclusions, to listen between the lines, and to notice the small things others miss. In Afersov he sees the son he never had.
