Strontsians

The Strontsians are reserved and forthright. They cherish honor, keep their word, and answer for their actions. Respect here does not come with wealth or a noble name — it is earned through deeds.

For the Strontsians, freedom is inseparable from the right to speak openly and be heard. This tradition survives in popular assemblies where residents discuss common affairs. But freedom demands responsibility: a spoken word binds a person no less than a decision made.

Most Strontsians live in small towns and villages among forests and river valleys. They cultivate the land, raise livestock, hunt, and harvest timber. Life in many settlements is tied to the Merk. People and goods travel along the river, while mills and crossings stand on its banks. Fishers take to the water before dawn, and part of the catch is salted or smoked for winter.

Families often settle near one another and manage their households together. During sowing, harvest, construction, or a large fishing effort, neighbors are expected to help each other. The Strontsians value freedom and the right to take part in the life of their land. They discuss common affairs at popular assemblies, where everyone may speak and must answer for their words.
