About the people
The Ferens are the people of Velar, Lorn, Eymar, and Kavr. Their country arose during the Liberation War, when the four coastal cities united and declared independence from Krestia.
Their daily life is tied to the sea and its harbors. Cargo is received in the ports, ships are repaired, rigging is prepared, and travelers from distant shores are welcomed. Shops, workshops, and warehouses operate within the cities. Important matters are debated at assemblies, because Feren grew not around a throne, but around cities that chose their own path.
Authority and Structure
Feren has no single ruler. The country is organized through its cities: Velar, Lorn, Eymar, and Kavr retain control of local affairs but decide common matters together.
The main center of power is Velar, the name shared by both the city and Feren’s central governing body. Representatives of the four cities gather there to discuss laws, ports, roads, defense, trade, and relations with other countries.
This order took shape during the Liberation War, when the cities stood together and declared independence from Krestia. Power in Feren therefore rests not on a throne, but on an alliance of cities.
